Complaints Board posted a false complaint on 9-28-2010 about an invented product that I do not sell and used my unique company name along with a state location (Nevada) where my company is not located.

Google picked up my company name within hours of the posting and ranked this invented complaint #6 out of 4,180 results. Google ranks Rip Off Reports and Complaints Board pages even higher than my Google Blogspot blog. Curiously I received an email this morning 9-29-2010 from a Reactive Online Reputation Management company offering to remove this complaint. The email reads:

I had purchased 3 urns for $289.00… It was nothing like the actual picture… The picture looks like the the tops are bronzed like almost faxed and smooth… Just beautiful was real excited to get them in…What I got was 3 pieces of ceramic that looks as if someone took them in the back alley and spray painted them and forgot to dust them off. I had to put them on top of my kitchen cabinets up far so you could not see all the imperfections and just the poor quality…I was very disappointed… Well one day I had went to the furniture show where they sell wholesale and I actually went into a show room that sells the same exact stuff and found out that’s where they order alot of there stuff and all of it was junk… I was amazed this company stays in business. I give them an A plus on the website because everything looks so beautiful but they obviously photo shop those pictures… On top of that the whole sale price was 90 dollars and they sell it for 289.00 that is such a ripoff…
Anyways be careful what you buy because honestly the quality is very poor…
THIS FRAUDULENT AND LIBELOUS ACTION IS EXTORTION PURE AND SIMPLE.
I have looked at both Rip Off Report and Complaints Board HTML code. There is no reason that the web site HTML Meta Tags and lack of supporting text would propel these two sites to the top 10 Google search results within hours or even at all. My company has received repeated emails and phone calls that have attempted to extort payment for complaint removal services.
MY QUESTIONS:
1. Does Google give ranking preference to these extortionists?
2. Does Google have a special relationship with these complaint web sites?
3. Google has the ability to remove these web sites from their search results. Why has Google not done so?
4. Is there a Google contact email address?
All replies would be greatly appreciated as it is impossible to find Google contact information anywhere on the Google site. It is impossible to report abuse to Google if Google doesn’t provide Google contact information for these serious matters.

According to recent complaints about Cash4Gold, an unnamed Rip-Off site took bribes to give Cash4Gold positive press. I checked out ripoffreport.com’s site for Cash4Gold. Ripoff report was singing the praises of Cash4Gold so high to the point they were disputing their site users complaints about cash4gold. I can guarantee you they were taking the bribes!

Now do a Google search and type in Rip Off Report into the search box, then take a look down the pages of all the complaints about them. There isn’t a website or business that even compares to the complaints that RipOffReport.com has listed against them in the search engines. From fraud to extortion they have it all along with being sued 40 or more times. They say the owner “Convicted Felon??” Ed Magedson, founder and editor of RipOffReport.com has been the target of (Internet Terrorist). Within 24 hours, anytime a prospective customer of that business does a web search, which many consumers these days do, they will then see the defamatory link appear on that business, usually on the first page of the search engines results, which then will lead them to a very disparaging report on that business. That consumer may now have second thoughts from doing business with that particular company because of the bogus self created report. That’s exactly what Ed wants to happen! That’s how the scam starts!
So, why is Ed doing this? It’s called Extortion!
What he then does is approach the business he’s damaged (defamed) and offer’s his fraudulent “services” to remove the defamatory commentary, which usually means the business PAYING RIP OFF REPORT.COM about $50, 000 upfront plus a $5, 000 per month “monitoring fee” for a report THEY created! What a way to make a living!

RipOffReport.com is a scam. My company is a victum of a false claim. It appears they do go after company’s with brand recognition to push traffic to their website. Our first complaint only appeared once we started running TV commercials. That can’t be a coincidence.

I completely agree that ROR is nothing more than a scam website and google should shut it down. My business has been targeted on that website and many others just like it, by estranged family members and probably Ed himself is writing a lot of the content.
I got a call from his supposed reputation builders telling me that if I paid them 25, 000 that they would remove the derogatory comments. I told him to take a flying leap. Not long after that, more complaints began to appear but I do know for a fact that Sandra Johnson of 7414 Anstead circle …an estranged sister of mine, continues to post fabricated stories on ROR and the website owner doesn’t even validate the supposed complaints before he makes them visible to the public.
You can take a yellow pages and post business after business, making up whatever story you want to make up and the site owner of ROR will post it.

Complaintsboard.com Sued…..Owners Unknown
Susan and Robert Johnson, owners of Cozy Kittens Cattery, LLC, sued consumer review site ComplaintsBoard.com, its (alleged) publishers Elizabeth Arden and Michelle Reitenger, and two ComplaintsBoard users who commented on a complaint thread about Susan Johnson and her cat breeding business. The Johnsons also sued InMotion Hosting, Inc., the hosting service for the website. The complaint alleges injurious falsehood, defamation, and intentional inflication of emotional distress against all six defendants.
The complaint also includes a federal trademark infringement claim against one of the commenters, Kathleen Heineman, who allegedly violated the Johnsons’ trademark rights in their “Cozy Kittens” trademark by “use of the name ‘Cozy Kittens and Cuddly Cats'” in connection with her competing cat breeding business. (This allegation is puzzling given that Heineman’s business appears to be called Boutique Kittens.)
The claims against Arden, Reitenger, ComplaintsBoard.com, and InMotion seek to hold them liable for publishing third-party content (Lowry and Heineman’s comments) and refusing to remove this content upon demand by the Johnsons. These claims are likely barred by section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, but it does not look like any defendant has asserted this defense so far.
The Johnsons originally filed suit in state court in Missouri in June 2008, but Heineman removed the case to federal court in October 2008. After removal, Heineman, a resident of Colorado, moved to dismiss the complaint against her for lack of personal jurisdiction. This motion was pending as of January 15, 2009.
Before removal, the state court entered a default judgment against Melanie Lowry, who did not appear in the case. Lowry later challenged the default judgment by sending a letter to the federal district judge.
InMotion moved to dismiss the complaint in state court (grounds unknown), but did not refile the motion in federal court after removal. Based on InMotion’s failure to answer or file a motion to dismiss in federal court, the Johnsons moved for entry of a default judgment against it. InMotion then appeared, arguing that the court should deny the Johnsons’ motion for entry of default and hear its motion to dismiss on the merits.
Arden, Reitenger, and ComplaintsBoard.com have not appeared in the federal action. The reason for this is not clear — they may have defaulted in the state court action, they may have settled with the Johnsons, or they may never have been served in the first place. The disputed comments no longer appear on ComplaintsBoard.com.
Complaintsboard.com violates trademarks and utilizes slander as a means of doing business — while trying to hide behind First Amendment rights for free speech.
Fortunately recent court rulings in California have taken a very dim view of trademark violations when there is commercial intent. As is clearly the case here.
Complaintsboard.com hides behind private registration and does not make itself known so that companies and individuals can take legal action against it.
Complaintsboard.com racketeering and is in violation of the RICO act. Just like ripoff reports.com it uses “mobster tactics” to extort money from the companies that are wrongly accused just wish to clear their names.

Evidence strongly suggests that AS10392 together with all of the IPv4
space it is currently announcing routes for, i.e.:
192.171.64.0/19
204.137.224.0/19
205.164.0.0/20
205.164.16.0/20
205.164.32.0/20
205.164.48.0/20
have all been hijacked. I will be reporting this formally to ARIN today,
via their helpful fraud reporting web form.
In the meantime, while this case is being carefully adjudicated by ARIN,
some folks may wish to blackhole the above. (The IP space appears to be
in use by some sort of snowshoe spamming operation.)

I don’t know if this lawsuit has happened yet, but my company, Blue Water Partnership, is also being wrongfully accused on complaintsboard.com. We’ve been dealing with them for about a year and it has to stop. E-mail me if there is still any action being taken.

RIP OFF REPORTS and COMPLAINTS BOARD are currently attempting to extort payment from my company to remove negative reviews of my ecommerce business. Complaints Board posted a false complaint on 9-28-2010 about an invented product that I do not sell and used my unique company name along with a state location (Nevada) where my company is not located.

Google picked up my company name within hours of the posting and ranked this invented complaint #6 out of 4,180 results. Google ranks Rip Off Reports and Complaints Board pages even higher than my Google Blogspot blog. Curiously I received an email this morning 9-29-2010 from a Reactive Online Reputation Management company offering to remove this complaint. The email reads:

THIS FRAUDULENT AND LIBELOUS ACTION IS EXTORTION PURE AND SIMPLE.
I have looked at both Rip Off Report and Complaints Board HTML code. There is no reason that the web site HTML Meta Tags and lack of supporting text would propel these two sites to the top 10 Google search results within hours or even at all. My company has received repeated emails and phone calls that have attempted to extort payment for complaint removal services.
MY QUESTIONS:
1. Does Google give ranking preference to these extortionists?
2. Does Google have a special relationship with these complaint web sites?
3. Google has the ability to remove these web sites from their search results. Why has Google not done so?
4. Is there a Google contact email address?
All replies would be greatly appreciated as it is impossible to find Google contact information anywhere on the Google site. It is impossible to report abuse to Google if Google doesn’t provide Google contact information for these serious matters.

Have studied complaintsboard.com, and you are correct, they are themselves a scam site run by petty extortionists who take advantage of international borders and flaws in US legislation. Along with their knowledge of effective Google SEO, they can create their own racketeering enterprise, which is then used as an aid to other nerdowells. The site should be permanently barred from the Internet.
Until that happens however, there are things you can do to fight back. Think about this: Complaintsboard.com hides behind legislation which protects them ONLY if they are not content editors. Their terms of use state that anyone can complain about anything they want to, and that CC’s owners/operators will not interfere in any way.
SO – lay out a little trap for them to violate the CDA. Simply go to their site and create a new complaint, of which complaintsboard.com is the target. So use their own site against them.
To really make it effective, you should make the same complaint at several sites including ripoffreport.com plus the others (as many as you can) and then include a link to your complaint on complaintsboard.com
When they delete the complaint then it can be legally argued that they change to an editor status, and thus a legal theory can be made that they lose their protection under the CDA. Frankly the FTC should have barred the site years ago. You and everyone you know should file similar complaints with the FTC.
You should have as many of your friends as possible repeat the very same process. Ask them to ask their friends to do the same. Using this method you might be surprised at how quickly your links will rise to the top of google searches.
If you can get this done, it should be effective at drawing attention to the true nature of what complaintsboard.com really is.
